Hawaii State Quarter
Monday saw the release of the long awaited Hawaii’s entry into the popular 50 State Quarters series that began in 1999.
The fiftieth and final state quarter honors the 50th state of Hawai’i. The quarter shows the state name of Hawai’i, nicknamed “The Aloha State. The quarters back features King Kamehameha with his hand stretching out over the eight major Hawaiian Islands. The state motto, “Ua mau ke ea o ka ‘aina i ka pono” (“The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness”) is inscribed under the islands.
