The drive up Mount Tantalus and Round Top Dr are not to be missed when you visit the island of O’ahu. This drive feature panoramic views at every turn. The drive itself is fabulous, but you are rewarded at the top by a breath taking view of Honolulu below. At the top of Mount Tantalus views stretch from Ewa Beach on your right hand all the way to Diamond Head (Le’ahi) on the left. You can also see views of Punch Bowl National Cemetery, Downtown Honolulu, and Waikiki.

Although, there are many stopping points along the Mount Tantalus drive make sure to stop at Pu’u Ualakaa Park Lookout. This park offers the best views from Mt. Tantalus.

** Movie Trivia: In the movie Blue Hawaii, Elvis Presley took his girlfriend to this park for a picnic.

Directions:
From Waikiki get on Ala Wai Blvd., turn right on McCully Street and head towards the mountains. You will cross a bridge over the H1 Lunalilo Freeway, after the bridge turn left onto Wilder Avenue. Drive northwest and turn right on Makiki Street, at the 1st set of lights. Follow Makiki Street up until you come to a Y and then take Round Top Drive the rest of the way. You will end up going past the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl and will come out into the business district of Honolulu.
