Aloha Airlines
Farewell Aloha Airlines! Aloha airlines will fly it’s last passenger service flight today. On Sunday, 10 days after placing itself under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Aloha Airlines announced that it would cease operations on March 31, 2008. The company is currently the 10th largest private employer in the Hawaiian islands, and it’s closure will result in the loss of 1,900 of jobs.

Aloha Airlines was founded as a charter carrier by publisher Ruddy Tongg as a competitor to Hawaiian Airlines, beginning operation on July 26, 1946 with a single DC-3. Aloha Airlines operated for 61 years in the Hawaiian Islands. Their departure from the skies will certainly have a lasting impact.
